It was easy to be inspired by this charming, renovated farmhouse and its wonderful inhabitants —a busy family with kids, dogs and horses. Dream House’s Wendy Flynn worked her magic to help the owners achieve a lighter, brighter feel with an updated country look that is lovely for entertaining but also withstands all the fun of its smaller, busier family members. She transformed this large, open area into beautiful, comfortable living and family rooms.

Wendy used the color of the stone on the fireplace, with its palate of light, neutral tones, as a starting point. She chose light toned carpets from Company C and Jaipur to brighten the space with textures and fabrics that are easy to clean and hide stains. The American Leather sectional is a shade of warm taupe leather, and its wedge style fits wonderfully in the space, making a great conversation area. To keep the light palate from looking too sterile, she chose furniture of varying textures and tones, along with some larger pieces to keep the room looking grounded and not too busy.

Subtle sparks of color were added through the accessories, artwork, and pillow choices to add interest, but still align with the light, airy feel. Curtainless windows let in the beautiful light and colors of the natural landscape surrounding this gorgeous farmhouse.
